Dr. Harinder Singh is a highly experienced and respected pediatrician and adolescent health specialist with over 30 years of dedicated service in child and adolescent healthcare. Based at 8-A, Model Town Extension, Ludhiana, Punjab, he has earned recognition for his compassionate patient care, academic excellence, and leadership in pediatric and adolescent medicine. He completed his M.B.B.S. from the University of Kerala, Trivandrum in 1987 and pursued his M.D. in Pediatrics from DMC&H, Ludhiana in 1996. Further strengthening his expertise in adolescent healthcare, he completed FIAP (Fellowship of Indian Academy of Pediatrics) in 2011, PGCC in Adolescent Health from IMA Sinha Institute, and Post Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Pediatrics (PGDAP) from the University of Kerala in 2014.
Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Harinder Singh has served as a Pediatric Consultant for more than three decades and has held the prestigious position of Ex-HOD Pediatrics at Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Hospital, Model Town, Ludhiana. He also serves as an Adolescent Consultant at Teenage Clinic, SKS Nagar, Ludhiana, where he focuses on adolescent health, behavioral guidance, obesity management, parenting counseling, and preventive healthcare. His clinical interests include adolescent medicine, pediatric preventive care, neonatal resuscitation, childhood obesity, hypertension in adolescents, and emotional wellbeing among teenagers.
Apart from his clinical practice, Dr. Harinder Singh has made remarkable contributions to medical academics and research. He served as the Admin Editor of the IAP Book of Adolescent Pediatrics (2022) and authored the Review IAP Guidelines of Obesity in Adolescents (2023). He has also contributed articles to the IAP Textbook of Adolescent Medicine (2024). In addition, he has published more than seven research papers in reputed journals including the Indian Journal of Maternal and Child Health and the Indian Journal of Preventive and Social Medicine. His academic work also includes significant research studies on rural and urban adolescent girls with regard to health, education, and self-esteem, as well as obesity and hypertension in adolescents aged 9–19 years in urban schools of Ludhiana.
Dr. Harinder Singh has been actively associated with several prestigious national and state-level medical organizations. He is a Life Member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Indian Maternal and Child Health Association, Neonatology Forum of India, AHA-IAP, IAP Intensive Care Chapter, Environmental Group IAP, and Family Benefit Scheme (FBS). He has also worked extensively as a National Trainer for Basic Life Support (BLS), Parenting of Adolescents, Difficult Adolescent Management, Adolescent Office Practice, MDR-TB awareness, and Mission School Uday programs. Additionally, he has served as a State Trainer for the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and worked as Joint National Coordinator for Adolescent Counselling.
Over the years, Dr. Harinder Singh has held numerous prestigious leadership positions within the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and related healthcare bodies. His contributions include serving as Chairman FBS-IAP (2026–2028), Vice President CIAP (2022), President IAP Ludhiana District Branch, Secretary and Treasurer of Ludhiana District IAP, President of IAP Intensive Care Chapter Punjab State, and President of Adolescent Health Academy Punjab. He has also served as Executive Member for multiple state and national pediatric committees and as Advisor to the All India Managing Committee FBS-IAP.
Dr. Harinder Singh has played a key role in organizing major pediatric and adolescent health conferences at regional and national levels, including North Zone Pedicon 2022, North Zone Adolescon 2022, National Adolescon 2023, and North Zone Adolescon 2025. His efforts have contributed significantly to advancing pediatric education, adolescent healthcare awareness, and intensive care training programs across Punjab and India.
Among his many achievements, Dr. Harinder Singh was the first to organize state conferences outside medical colleges in Ludhiana and pioneered the concept of two-day pediatric state conferences involving multiple medical institutions. He has received several Certificates of Appreciation from National IAP leadership for his outstanding contributions. He was also instrumental in starting the Fellowship in Intensive Care at DMC&H, initiating Adolescent Clinics at Government Medical College, Amritsar, and establishing IAP-CPR Centres at GMC&H Amritsar and SGRDIMS&R Amritsar. Notably, he organized the first ALS program for nurses in Punjab and the second of its kind in the country.
